- 31 -                                             "This blue eyed blonde young boy is from Flat Rock, North Carolina. I used the palette knife a lot in the painting. For me to get the fabric to look like the texture it represents I need for the technique to be obvious. While his face is somewhat cherubic the reflections and folds in the shirt serve as a balance. This painting was completed in the 1980's and I used the painting knife quite extensively. The variations of ochres and umbers in his hair are painted with extremely thick paint." A.B.
