- 32 -                                                                    "This red haired beauty was from Raleigh, North Carolina. Because of her bright colored hair I chose to paint the background a cool neutral. This offsets the warmth of her beautiful strands. Next, the pose was important for me and the flower she is holding brings interest to the scene in profile. Because I had her sitting away from the light I was able to get a clear distinction of the shadow side of her face and body. The embroidered design on her dress and the intricate ruffle on the collar were a delight to paint. In this painting a lot of the spirit is in the chroma." A.B.
